The  'WATERSCAPE' DVD

This was shot on location in Tarka Country - North Devon in August 2009

When the opportunity arose to produce a live concert of Tarka, Harry immediately planned a film to accompany the performance, in order to illustrate his original vision - to connect the music to the landscape it describes. He returned to North Devon and with the help amd local knowledge of Tony Evans set about filming the scenes immortalized in the book.

Tarka Country is now celebrated as the North Devon Biosphere Reserve, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The co-coordinators of the UNSEC Biosphere were quick to offer assistance and support for the film. Word spread and help was also offered from David Attenborough's legendary BBC cinematographer Rod Clarke and access graciously granted to the Castle Hill Estate by the Countess of Arran.

It became apparent that the dramatic death scene in the book would need a different interpretation. Harry re-worked the Waterscape storyboard to widen the field of view to include the drought-stressed landscapes of the Mornington Biosphere in Victoria, Australia, to symbolize the conflict between civilization and the natural world. Critics have noted similarities to Baraka by Ron Fricke, in that there is no dialogue and the film seeks to communicate using choice of imagery alone. Harry’s overarching purpose is to draw attention to the beauty in everyday land- and waterscapes, the fragility of the eco-systems upon which we depend and the continuing mystery of water.
